In most cases, jobs are available for teachers at the kindergarten, primary and secondary schools. Teachers with degrees (in any field) are at an advantage with job placements, and command higher salaries. If you are in the middle of a degree and are contemplating working in Asia, it is best to finish your degree before leaving South Africa. Studies through UNISA can be continued while you work in Asia in many cases.
Even without a formal teaching qualification, positions as English teachers are open to South African citizens across Asia. The standard qualification for teaching English internationally is a four-week full-time certificate course offered by teacher training institution. This certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) comes in a variety of forms – some are issued as TESL, some as TESOL and Cambridge University's qualification is the CELTA. .

You can register for the CELTA certificate at any British Council worldwide.
Alternatively, you can register for your course in Asia, and study for your new career when you arrive. A cheap and exciting option here is to do your TESOL qualification in Thailand with Chichester College before leaving for your career in the country of your choice.
