As the birthplace of an ancient civilization China rich with mythological characters and culture. Because it is bigger than 9000 000 square kilometers, the topography of the different areas is not at all the same. Travel in China is therefore the most extraordinary experience that you will ever have. The only similarities can be found in the hard working attitude and nationality of it’s people. China sits between the East China sea, Korea bay, the Yellow sea and the south China sea. Its bordering countries are North Korea and Vietnam.
Culture
The culture of China is encompassed by its traditions and historical heritage, and is rich in arts, crafts, religion, cuisine, economic and intellectual properties. It’s race is united as people share the same language and philosophical beliefs. Its history shaped it to have a common national cause that is more important than anything else.
A big variety of the festivals in China are based on lunar and solar calendars and these events occur throughout the whole year.
Housing and safety
China’s major city centers are Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Xian
Housing is easily attainable and as with all developed countries, in the major centers you will find the cost of housing more expensive than in the rural areas There are many hotels, hostels and apartments in China, and prices will depend directly on the amenities your require.
The main mode of transport is via bicycle, and these are easily rentable if you do not want to obtain your own. Cycling in China is enjoyable and very safe. Medical facilities in the Major cities are good but such facilities in the rural areas are somewhat below western standards. To keep yourself safe and healthy, refrain from drinking any unpurified water.
Policing in China is very strict, and should you ever get caught with contraband items such as firearms, pornography, narcotics etc., you will surely create a lot of trouble for yourself.
Religion
China is a multi religious country, and icons to the Shinto and Buddhist religion may well be found in the same home. As in the rest of Asia the Buddhist religion is one of love and tolerance, and you will never be forced into any situation that is not to your liking. The golden rule however is to find out what is acceptable, and then strive not to transgress any religious taboos.
